Start up usage for new user

Hey I was looking to see how people most efficiently run their units.
Just got a JL3001 and have been going back and forth with customer service about possibilities and ease of use. Hit a few glitches that are being ironed out right now primarily with carplay features (both Android and apple).
Going to try using Hotspot and see if running all apps from the head will get rid of my issues. Support did mention to turn off auto updates as that can cause crashing.
So anybody around who can give me rundowns of how they use their systems?
