Reprogram CANBUS module

Post by torchie » Mon Jul 02, 2018 6:26 am

This goes out to the insane audio support team. Are there any thoughts on providing an interface into the canbus module like iDatalink Maestro? It would be great to be able to set the center button on the right (with the volume controls) to mute. On the left, I only have previous track. Would like to have next more than previous. The ability to program the canbus module would put this head unit over the top.

There are two settings you can try adjusting in the factory settings. First, there is an option in Settings > Factory Settings > Enter Password: 126 > CanBus > Swap_key > Swap. This setting will swap your previous and next track buttons. We intentionally mapped the previous and next track buttons to match the orientation of the playlist in our music player, however you are welcome to swap them as desired. Both of these should be working out of the box. If this is not the case, please reach out to our support staff via this form: www.insaneaudio.com/support

The second thing to try is, an option in Settings > Factory Settings > Enter Password: 126 > Other > Scroll down to "Steering wheel keys assign" and change to "Disable" This might allow you to reprogram your steering wheel controls through the "Wheelkey Study" app. Next go to your apps list and open the "Wheelkey Study" app and follow the instructions on screen. Unfortunately, our JK test vehicle is not currently at the shop so I cannot verify this but please let us know what you find.

Is there a way to get the wheel keys app? I ran the update to the latest build, and now the wheel keys app is gone. Never used it, so just now noticed it's missing. Verified it's not disabled.

What model Insane Audio unit do you have? If you have a JK2001 you cannot reprogram the steering wheel controls, they are plug and play programed into the CANbus module. If you have a JK2001 and your steering wheel controls aren't working properly, we can troubleshoot your issue and we will get it working or replace the CANbus if needed. If you have a DD2001 you can use the WheelKey Study app which should be in your apps list, to program your steering wheel controls. This app is usually the last app in the alphabetical list, maybe it has moved to the next screen from installing more apps? If it is not in your apps list for some reason you should be able to restore the app by doing a factory data reset.
