Tapping into reverse

Post by kbywg » Sun Jan 28, 2018 9:18 am

All your install instructions for iacam as backup mention tapping into the reverse circuit but no where does it say where or how. Is it done right at the tail light by a splice? Does that cause any issues with voltage drop triggering dash warnings?

Please note that if you are installing one of our newer products (JK2001, TJ1002, FJ1002 or DD2001) that we no longer recommend this. Our new RockCam circuit is designed to power both a front and rear camera. For rear camera applications, it will power your camera when you are in reverse OR when the RockCam app is launched -- so you can view that backup camera through the app when you are not in reverse.

We apologize for not keeping all of our manuals up to date. The guys are a little slammed at the shop, but if you have any of the above products please refer to Appendix A of this document -- https://insaneaudio.com/InsaneAudio_DD2 ... urrent.pdf They all have the same RockCam circuit and work the same way.

If you are installing one of our older products without the RockCam circuit, then yes -- you can tap into a reverse light circuit for power. Splice into it. You won't have any issues with voltage drops.

We hope that helps!

Thanks yes that helps but perhaps you could update the cable you send so that the power cable is as long as the video cable. And even a combo unit instead so both are in one casing and easier to run. Or even ... can I have a pony for Christmas?
Thanks again. Love the unit.
