Wire Routing for BU Camera

Post by kenb1023 » Sun Jan 07, 2018 10:18 am

Looking for suggestions on ways to route the wires for the BU camera. The RCA plug is a bit think making it a challenge.

What solution did you come up with? I had a similar question. Best way to route the rca on a jku? I’m concerned about the length of the cable and looking for the shortest route.

I ran mine under the carpet on the passenger side, then the plastic cover on the rear passenger corner, down into the area where the jack is stored. The backup camera itself I connected to the underside of my trailer receiver, and ran the wires through the plug at the bottom (just drilled a hole the diameter of the wire and made a cut from the outside to pass through, since the jacks are so large compared to the wire).

Thanks Zerathusta! I went around the passenger wheel well (inside the Jeep) then straight up the middle, under the carpet, towards the radio. I recommend taking the shortest route possible, as the route I used gave me just enough cable. I also used the receiver as a mounting spot. Drilled a hole through my receiver cover and used the flush mount cam. With the quick disconnect rca’s tucked under the bumper, I can unplug it when I put in the ball and hitch. The rock cam was the non flush cam & I drilled into my fair lead and mounted it on the top lip, looking down a pulled winch line or I can angle it down just a bit to see what I’m not able to see over the hood when approaching a drop. Tried to add pix but they’re too big. I’ll try to make them smaller to upload later.
